No Matter

No matter the season I crave your love.
The heat of the summer days and mugginess of its nights.
The cooling wide array of an autumnal rainbow.
The white ashen frosted death of winter.
Or during the green reawakening of spring my heart leaps around like a young girl in a field of flowers.

No matter the time of day I crave your love.
At midnight with the moon high above to show me the path to you in the shadows.
During the waking of each day at dawn as we say goodbye to the darkness.
In the morning with the sun waving through the clouds.
During the blazing midday sun when there is hardly any shadow below my feet.
In the early evening dusk as the sun goes to sleep a burst of jewel tones illuminate the sky as my heart also burst for you.

No matter where we are I crave your love.
Under the cover of the trees with its heavy branches and its light leaves.
On the busy city streets with the blur of beings and vehicles whizzing by.
On the edge of the beach, lake, or river with each body of water my heart seeks yours in a gentle raging flow.

No matter what your mind thinks your heart needs to know that without fear or reservation I can say;
I love you under the sun, moon, and stars.
I love you under the clouds, rains, snow, and rainbows.
I love you with or without people around to witness it.

No matter my confusion my heart knows it belongs to you.
It may have taken my mind awhile to catch up to what my soul already knew.
Simply my heart has belonged to you since first I saw you and it beat in my chest like I had sprinted up a steep hill.

I will love you way after my heart has stopped.
I will love you way after my body has returned to dust.
I will love you for many more life times and each and every time we are reunited our love will bloom.

  14. The gift to love in this way- beautiful !

  15. Very nice. This poem seemed to build upon itself in a way I didn’t even realize until I got to the end. Each line a little more urgent, a tad more emphatic than the one before. My favorite line is: “I love you with or without people around to witness it.” Peace, Linda

    I like this part:

The feelings you express in this poem are highly relatable. I get the feeling that perhaps it is one sided? But the craving, it is constant and perhaps never satiated. This I am familiar with, too.
